Terro, both of these links are terrific. I've got a pretty vivid imagination, but I'd never thought of others secreted away, feeding answers to reporters' questions into the teleprompter! I've just been thinking that Obama's so inept at speaking "off the cuff" that he (and his hubris) required help. During the campaign (around Summer '08, I believe) Rush Limbaugh began speculating that there were "powers behind the throne", so to speak, regarding Obama and his rise from practically nowhere with little to no experience, radical ideas, etc., etc., etc. I thought then and I think now that it's totally plausible.
I think we can give Obama credit for delivering a good speech, but his off-the-cuff performances are not sparkling. Nevertheless, he'll never be called on his bloopers by the main stream media nor considered "stoopid" as was George Bush.
Maybe what might happen is people will get sick of hearing his daily pronouncements that hammer a party line that is patently false, such as "we've created umpteen thousands of jobs" (while losing 1.5 million) or that whine constantly about the previous administration.
Indeed, maybe TOTUS will revolt with a multitude of miscues!
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, observer, writer, middlin' cook and imbiber, instigator, awe-struck Christian, conservative and therefore mild cynic, appreciative and therefore optimist. I love the gusto in life; I hate hubris and value humility. I love the English language and deplore its decline in contemporary speech and writing. My husband calls me, fondly of course, an old bag, but I fill it with new tricks. You'll find a lot about politics in my Left Senseless blog, along with my opinions (and I welcome yours!), and glances at life's beauty and pleasures in Plum Duff.
